Dear Classmates,
We are excited to announce that
next year’s reunion will be a 5-night cruise to the western Caribbean on
Royal Caribbean’s “Grandeur of the Seas.” Since this is a milestone
year for all of us we wanted to do something really special. Our
itinerary includes stops in the ports of Georgetown, Grand Cayman &
Cozumel, Mexico. We will depart from Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) on
Monday, April 19th and arrive back in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday April
24th. Boarding will begin at noon on the 19th. Final boarding is at
4:00 p.m. and the ship leaves at 5:00 p.m. If you are flying in on the
day of the cruise, shuttles are available at the airport. If you are
driving, parking is available at Port Everglades for $15.00 per day. An
initial refundable deposit of $100 is required prior to Sept. 15, 2009.
Final payment is due Jan. 15, 2010.
In addition, Joanne DeFlora Cocchi
(class of `60) is hosting a “land” get-together at a local hotel with a
dinner/dance on Saturday night, and brunch on Sunday morning. This
coincides with the end of our cruise, and also accommodates those
classmates not cruising. Contact Joanne at 954-476-8011 (after 5:00
p.m.) or e-mail her joco1042 @ aol.com for more information regarding
this.
Our travel agent is Suzanne
Taskowitz at Cruise One, (1-888-664-2664.) All arrangements will be
handled through her. Don’t be afraid to book your cruise now as we will
receive the benefit of any cost reductions and are guaranteed not to
pay more next year. If you are traveling alone and would like a cabin
mate, let Suzanne know and she will match you up with a classmate.
Also, if you need a hotel the day before or the day after the cruise let
her know. She’ll be mailing out information prior to our sailing with
all the pertinent cruise details. Attached is a form that needs to be
filled out and returned to Cruise One. Please don’t return this form to
us! As you can see, the cost of the cruise will vary depending on the
cabin you choose and includes all port charges, taxes and tips. The
cruise line is giving us a lot of special perks, such as a private
cocktail party with an open bar and photographer, a special meeting area
on our last day, and other amenities. Not to mention all of the free
on-board entertainment each night, and of course, all meals, snacks &
room service. Our cruise agent will also be on board to assist us with
any needs we may have. MOST IMPORTANT!! As required by law you must now
have a passport anytime you leave the country or re-enter; so make sure
you obtain your passport well in advance, as it takes up to several
weeks from the date of your application, and you must have it in your
possession prior to final payment.
If you have any questions
regarding our reunion cruise please contact Loyd or Donna Barfield at
the above address. For information regarding the Saturday night
dinner/dance please contact Joanne Cocchi. Also let the Barfield’s know
of any changes to your e-mail address. This is really important as it
is our only means of communication, since this letter will be our only
mailing.
Also, don’t forget to check our
website www.mcarthurhighschool.com; and we are now on Facebook. Sign up
as an individual first, and then go to McArthur Alumni 60-61-62.
